Your Organization’s Collections in DPLA: Give Us Your Feedback
Help us evaluate the effect of including your organization’s collections in the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA). Share any impacts–whether positive or negative–of having your collections discoverable through DPLA. Your input will help inform Calisphere’s role in serving as a conduit to DPLA moving forward.
We anticipate this brief survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Please submit a single institutional response by Friday, November 22.
Background: Calisphere as a DPLA Hub
Calisphere has served as a Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) Hub since 2013, sharing your organization’s collections with DPLA as part of over 50 million cultural heritage resources aggregated from state and regional Hubs throughout the US. Prior to this year, DPLA was harvesting this content from Calisphere twice per year, following an established Hub schedule.
This year, DPLA completed an assessment of its cultural heritage aggregation program, and as of this summer is working to transition the program to a new organizational home in 2025. Also this year, CDL paused DPLA harvesting from Calisphere while our team completed a significant development project to upgrade Calisphere’s harvesting infrastructure and indexing system. (Though there is no current harvesting of Calisphere content in place, DPLA will continue to address any takedown or removal requests that you relay to us).
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We will be in touch with updates in the coming year.
